Detailed Deets & Things to Come

Problem & Solution

"The great thing about the Internet is everyone can be a publisher. The really bad thing about the Internet is everyone can be a publisher."

~Steven Brill, CEO of NewsGuard

The problem: The current social media landscape is not very friendly to memers. Perhaps most devastating is the deletion of our communities that have taken years to build. We had a community of 80,000 members that was deleted with no recourse, and no reason was given. We also face post bans and shadow bans for retroactively enforced and inscrutable rules, unfair and inequitable rule enforcement, overly curated content with algorithms that bury our content, trolls and griefers, and a culture of hostility.

It's not just memers. A 2021 Pew Research study found that the general opinion of social media is negative. Even so, this doesn't seem to affect the growth rate of user bases, with 1.3 million users joining social media every day in 2020.

The solution: That's fine. We'll make our own social media.

The Product

We've already built the community. We already have a prototype with alpha testers. A beta with an app is in development. The pilot product we eventually want to build will be a home for our community and the content they've contributed to the prototype, as a web, Android, and iOS app running our own software.

Our UI/UX features will include:

  • Monetary rewards, analytics, and high visibility for our original content creators.

  • Advanced AI to assist human moderators with anti-griefing and anti-trolling, and a culture of trust, respect, and encouraged self-correction.

  • Meme maker tool with font packs and licensed images.

  • Custom feeds and profiles, and advanced privacy settings.

  • Meme merch and NFT storefront.

  • Community building based on themes or interests.

  • Archive cloud storage for meme organization.

  • Full virtual reality integration.

We are currently collecting donations and selling digital meme downloads to keep the lights on and raise money for improvements.

In the not so distant future, we plan to have a 4-tiered system of membership:

  • Freemium - low cost, low priority, updates infrequently. Positively interact to improve the experience.

  • Free Content Creator - operates on a sliding scale.

  • Viewer Subscription - smooth UX, more features, some perks.

  • Premium Subscription - smoothest UX, all tools, features, and perks.

In the more distanter future:

  • Small Enterprise.

  • Large Enterprise.

Additional planned revenue channels:

  • Merchandising.

  • In-app purchases.

  • MemeBox monthly subscription.

  • MemeTV streaming and hangout service.

  • Events and auctions.

  • Micro-tipping.

  • NFTs.

  • Crypto.

  • Sponsorships for dank content.

  • Licensing of our AI.

  • Whitelabeling.

  • Designers' union.

  • Complementary app development.

  • According to GlobalWebIndex, of Facebook's 2.8 billion 2020 users, 29% used the platform to post or share memes, which is approximately 812 million users.

  • The Reddit community r/memes has 14.7 million members.

  • In the last 6 months, has attracted 21.5 millions visitors.

  • Average time spent on social media is about 2 hours per day in the United States, with the number of accounts across networks averaging 7.3.

  • Multi-networking has plateaued somewhat, but continues to rise most dramatically amongst Gen X and Baby Boomer users.

  • Users tend to have a favorite platform that they dedicate most of their social media time to.

  • TikTok's entrance onto the market in March, 2020 demonstrated that consumers are willing to make space for a new platform if it understands their needs and wants.

Market Research

Our preliminary research suggests a significant void in the market for not only our content creators, but also for people looking for a more positive social media experience. Our research is ongoing as we begin to connect with our market and listen to their needs.

  • Our target user spends 3-4 hours per day on social media.

  • Their average age is 35-44.

  • They are 44% female, 44% male, and 12% non-binary, gender fluid, gender neutral, or unspecified.

  • All survey respondents multi-network, with Facebook and YouTube being the most popular platforms.

  • 77% primarily use Facebook.

  • They primarily use social media to see content and interact with content creators.

  • Features they would most be attracted to in a new platform include: a better culture; an attractive and easy-to-use UI; and the presence of all their friends, family, and creators they follow.

The Immediate

We're working diligently to bring new features to this website and the prototype. We used off-the-shelf software for our prototype that we're debugging and improving every day, with the help of our alpha testers.

We have a meme shop up and running, as well as some informational blog posts. We're continuously adding content to these pages.

We're also working on an NFT shop so our memers can profit from their original content, and we can raise more money for our platform.

But wait, there's more! We're talking about how to fund and develop our Deep Learning AI with advanced computer vision for image classification and natural language processing to assist our human moderators.

The Distant Fruiture

First, we get all memers onto our platform. Then, the world!

  1. an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.

    • a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by internet users.

Over half the world's population is on social media. That's 4.2 billion users. 490 million new users joined in 2020 alone. The average user spends about 2.5 hours per day on social media. Added up, that's about 10 billion hours that the global population spends on social media every day.

Internet memes changed the dictionary definition of "meme," and we believe anyone can meme. Memes have a power beyond entertainment. They can enrage, motivate, encourage, uplift. In 2016, 38% of Florida voters polled believed Ted Cruz to be the Zodiac Killer. Memes change hearts and minds. It's time for memes to find their forever home. If you're cold, they're cold. Bring them inside.
